The Other Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook
A speeding ticket is what's known in insurance circles as a "moving violation." Insurance companies love moving violations because it gives them the opportunity to increase your premium. Likewise, many states perform interesting math in order to determine the cost of your ticket. In our state the cost is fifty dollars for the first ten miles over the limit and fifty dollars for each additional mile. Thus if you-- like so many other motorists on our nation's highways-- prefer to travel at Warp Factor Nine, you may have to mortgage your home to cover the cost of the ticket and the increase in your premium.
1: Don't speed This is commonsense advice that may be more difficult than it at first appears due to a variety of factors. Below are some very valid causes of speeding:
-- Your wife is in labor
-- You are in labor
-- You are listening to Led Zeppelin II
-- You have a powerful need to catch up with that asshole that cut you off five miles ago so that you can choke the miserable life from his worthless body
-- You live in Massachusetts
-- A robot from the future is chasing you
-- The timer on the bomb in your trunk can't be reset and you're not at the target yet...
